Fernandez Hospital, currently Fernandez hospital Foundation started as a small maternity clinic in 1948, systematically progressing into a full-fledged womens hospital. We believe that although childbirth can be daunting, it is something that is cherished for a lifetime. Maternity care at our hospital is maintained at the highest level. Every woman we see, rich or poor, receives the same equitable high quality of evidence-based clinical care. Over the years the hospital has established itself as a referral unit for high risk and critical care obstetrics.
In 2011 Fernandez Hospital Foundation piloted a two-year Professional Midwifery Education Training (PMET) program. Select group of Nurses were trained specificallyin midwifery to give positive childbirth experience to the mothers.In 2014, Fernandez Hospital was accredited to start Post Basic Diploma in Nurse Practitioner in Midwifery with 10 seats.
Telangana government in collaboration with UNICEF and Fernandez hospitalhave initiated 18 months residential Midwifery training for 30 in-service nurses in 2017 in the Telangana State. Government of India has also recently rolled out Guidelines on Midwifery Services in India 2018.
As a part of expanding midwifery training services and having our own cohort of trainers we are inviting applications from qualified nurses to become Tutors in Midwifery at Fernandez Hospital Foundation Hyderabad.
This is an exciting opportunity for the candidates interested in making a difference to the women in pregnancy and childbirth and in creating a positive birth experience for the mother.
Upon completion of the training you will be designated as a Tutor and will be required to devote 50% of time for Clinical practice and 50% for academics.
You shall carry out the following responsibilities in various areas:
Take on a case load of one case per month for comprehensive care.
Supervise the maintenance of International confederation of Midwives [ICM] standards
Identify indicators for best practices.
Oversee the training of the 10 candidates.
Plan and conduct continuing midwifery education sessions
Plan clinical rotations for the trainees
Assess micro teachings skills of the trainees
Guide trainees through 2 projects to be converted into publications
Engage in research project as Principal investigator 1 project
Publish minimum 1 original research article every 2 years.
Liaise between the appropriate authority and trainees
Co-ordinate implementation of updates in clinical practice as per GoI.
Conduct audits and maintain academic and clinical records.
Help with the appraisal of the Trainees
Conduct clinical review meetings
Qualifications and Experience:
a) A Masters degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing is preferred.
b) B.Sc. Nursing with 3 years of clinical exp. In maternity services.
c) RGNM with 5 years of clinical experience in maternity services.
d) Candidates with Post basic diploma in Nurse Practitioner in Midwifery will have an added advantage for all of the above qualifications.
For this training it is essential to have a valid State Registration with the respective Nurse and Midwifery council.
